Aston Villa vs Everton Preview

The Villans got their Premier League campaign underway last Saturday with a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

Moussa Diaby initially levelled the scoring to make it 1-1, however the Magpies ran rampant for the remainder of the clash – winning by a comfortable four goal margin.

To make matters worse for Unai Emery, Tyrone Mings was forced off through injury, which has since been confirmed to be a serious knee injury – forcing him to be sidelined for a prolonged period of time.

Everton also fell to defeat in their opener, but not quite by the same margin. Despite a spirited performance at Goodison, the Toffees were beaten 1-0 by Fulham thanks to Bobby Decordova-Reid’s second half goal.

Villa came out on top in both meetings between the pair last season, winning 2-1 at home, as well as securing a 2-0 triumph away from home.
