Best Kevin De Bruyne Replacements FPL: Who Should Replace The Belgian?

De Bruyne was one of the most owned players in FPL last season, and is without a doubt one of the best players in the Premier League, but now he has picked up an injury, managers in fantasy football will be forced to make a change.

The Belgian racked up 183 points on FPL last season, scoring seven goals and assisting a further 16. It is fair to say his injury will have a huge impact on the fantasy community, so check out our best Kevin De Bruyne replacements in FPL below.

Julian Alvarez – £6.5m

We believe Julian Alvarez is a great alternative to De Bruyne with the Argentine expected to feature a lot more this season. Pep Guardiola has often used him in absence of the Belgium international, so Alvarez should have plenty of regular playing time.

Alvarez scored 16 goals last season, whilst mostly coming off the bench so you can expect him to get his name on the scoresheet regularly this campaign with increased playing time.

He also recorded an assist against Burnley on opening day.

Alvarez is officially a forward on FPL, and De Bruyne is a midfielder – however, you can always change formations to get that extra striker in. The Argentine is one of the perfect replacements for the absent Belgian.

Moussa Diaby – £6.5m

Another Kevin De Bruyne replacement in your FPL team we recommend is Moussa Diaby of Aston Villa. His side may have lost their opening game 5-1, but he got on the scoresheet nevertheless.

The French winger also made an impact in pre-season, grabbing a handful of goals and he will be one of Unai Emery’s key players going forward.

He cost Villa a club-record £51.9million, and we believe he will live up to his price and return plenty of goals and assists for the West Midlands side.

The 24-year-old scored nine goals and provided eight assists last season in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen.

Harvey Barnes – £6.5m

Harvey Barnes joined Newcastle United this summer from Leicester City, who were relegated to the Championship and we feel he can be a perfect replacement for De Bruyne in your FPL teams.

He came off the bench against Villa last weekend and recorded a goal and an assist helping his team to a 5-1 victory. The 25-year-old cost the Magpies just shy of £40million and he can be expected to be amongst the starters regularly. He may have only started on the bench last time out, but the impact he had on the team would have impressed Eddie Howe and could well have earned him a starting spot in gameweek two.

Barnes was Leicester’s top goalscorer with 13 goals in the Premier League last campaign, and he will have hopes of replicating that kind of form, especially with the Euros next summer.
