Aston Villa Vs Everton Tip One: Aston Villa To Win @ 4/6

Unai Emery’s side may have lost 5-1 in their Premier League opener against Newcastle United, but we’re backing them to bounce back in this one. The Magpies are a strong force, and even more so on home soil, so it can be forgiven.

Villa also suffered a huge blow when Tyrone Mings had to be stretchered off after a nasty knee injury. This didn’t help the side one bit, and without him they looked vulnerable at the back. However, with summer signing Pau Torres set to start and play 90 minutes, he will hopefully tighten their defence up.

As for Everton, they lost 1-0 to Fulham on matchday one, and looked poor. They missed a lot of chances and looked shaky at the back, eventually conceding a soft goal at the hands of Bobby Decordova-Reid.

We think that Villa will be too strong for the Toffees, and their good summer recruitment so far can help them get off the mark.

This is the last game the Villains will play before they start their Europa Conference League campaign too, with their first playoff game scheduled for the following Thursday. Emery will want to build the confidence in the side, starting on Sunday.

Moussa Diaby was a solid summer purchase by Villa, and got off the mark with the side’s only goal of the game last weekend at Newcastle.  The French winger also grabbed a couple of goals in pre-season and has impressed so far.

Emery was always going to need strong recruitment with his side preparing for European football, and he has done just that. Diaby joined the West Midlands outfit in a club-record deal when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £51.9m, and we feel he will live up to his value and score his first home goal this weekend.

With the Villa fans behind him, we think Diaby will certainly have a say in things. The France international is a fantastic forward, and will be one of the key players in the squad this season.
