Mohamed Salah was denied a seventh consecutive opening day goal for Liverpool by VAR at Stamford Bridge in his side’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, but the ‘Egyptian King’s is primed to return to goalscoring form against an enjoyable opponent for him.

In eight career appearances against the Cherries, Salah has bagged eight times and assisted once. He bagged a hat-trick in a 4-0 win in December 2018 but somehow didn’t find himself on the scoresheet in the Reds’ 9-0 win last season – so he’ll be hungry for one this time around.

The 31-year-old was in fine form in pre-season and will be keen to open his account for 2023/24 against a backline of fearful opponents.
