Inspired by Vincent Kompany, Burnley secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking by comfortably finishing first in the Championship, and they’ll now be looking to re-establish themselves amongst the elite clubs within the English game.
The Clarets ended the campaign on 101 points, 10 points clear of second place Sheffield United.
Clearly inspired by his time at Manchester City, Kompany had Burnley playing a progressive style of football that was easy on the eye, which will surely continue heading into the 2023/24 season.
And it’s against City that they kick off their return to the promise land – with a Friday night opener at home against Pep Guardiola’s treble winners.
In terms of transfers, Burnley have added to their ranks through signing Zeki Amdouni, James Trafford, Dara O’Shea, Nathan Redmond and Jacob Bruun Larsen (loan), whilst also turning Jordan Beyer and Michael Obafemi’s loans permanent.
Sander Berge is another who is expected to sign on the dotted line at Turf Moor after the midfielder completed a medical with the Lancashire-based club.
