The first race for the Friday Tony Calvin Glorious Goodwood tips sees him back two horses in VINO VICTRIX & LAW OF THE SEA.
Hughie Morrison and Tom Marquand have already won a staying contest this week on Quickthorn, and come together once again with Vino Victrix. He enjoyed a good campaign in 2022, and was a runner up in the e at Newmarket, and on that run he should be within a chance with an E/W bet and goes off on the same mark as that race this time around. He didn’t do that bad in the Northumberland Plate last time out at Newcastle, in a race more suited to patiently-ridden horses and this one could be more in his favour.
As for Law Of The Sea, he was poor in the Northumberland Plate when last seen, but that can be forgiven after he ran a cracker in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. He can be expected to bounce back on this ground, having gone close on soft ground in the Chester Cup in May too. His trainer Ian Williams also likes this race, having won it in 2014 and 2017. This horse certainly has good form this season, excusing the Newcastle on the last day.

The second of the races for the Tony Calvin Glorious Goodwood tips see him back two horses again, with THE WIZARD OF EYE & TACARIB BAY being his fancies.
Despite a couple of recent poor runs, The Wizard Of Eye sits on a mark 0f 105, which gives him every chance of ruffling the feathers of the shorter priced runners in this contest. He was a close second at 40/1 at this meeting last year in a Group 3 on fast ground, but he has plenty of form on the soft/heavy ground. This race is the horse’s handicap debut after 18 starts, and he has been well in the mix in higher graded races, so is worth a punt E/W.
The second horse in this race that the Betfair tipster thinks is worth a bet is Tacarib Bay. He is staying loyal to this Richard Hannon gelding, having tipped him at Ascot last weekend. He finished very strongly last time out, and finished sixth. However, he did win on the side he was running by a good couple of lengths, with the near side being far more favourable on the day. Going back up to 1m on soft is also a positive, with his only two wins coming with plenty of dig in the ground. Sean Levey also remains in the saddle, after combining last Saturday.
