Newcastle United have reportedly reached an agreement with Southampton over the signing of right-back Tino Livramento in a £35million plus add-ons deal.

Following Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League, Tino Livramento will reportedly return straight back to the English top flight with Newcastle United.

Sky Sports News reporter Lyall Thomas revealed on Thursday afternoon that the Magpies and the Saints had reached an agreement over the young right-back’s transfer.

Livramento is expected to join on a long-term deal, and will have the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League next term.

In addition, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has revealed that the deal is worth around £40million, with Newcastle paying £35million up front with a further £5million to be paid in add-ons.

Crook also confirmed that Chelsea have a hefty sell-on clause that could be as much as 50%, therefore the Blues could pocket upwards of £20million from the transfer.

Even with a hefty sell-on clause, Southampton are set to make a nice chunk of profit from Livramento’s sale, having bought him from Chelsea for £5million in 2021.

Of course, Livramento suffered a nasty ACL injury in April 2022 that ended his impressive breakout season on the south coast, and saw him spend over a year on the sidelines.

The right sided defender did return to the field of play towards the end of last season though, making two appearances from the bench for the Saints.

Livramento will become Newcastle’s third major signing of the window, having already acquired Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, as well as Harvey Barnes from Leicester City.
