Barcelona midfielder Pedri has shut down rumours linking him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and has insisted that he will remain with the Catalan club for many years to come.

Following reports linking him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Pedri has publicly denied the rumours and has confirmed that he plans on staying with Barcelona for the long haul.

The reports broke last week, claiming that Luis Enrique was keen on the young midfield talent and wanted to lure him to the French capital.

Of course, this comes following confirmation from Barca boss Xavi that winger Ousmane Dembele will depart the club in order to join the Ligue 1 champions.

But regardless of PSG’s interest, Pedri, who’s release clause is worth upwards of a reported €1billion, claims he won’t be moving anywhere anytime soon and dreams of becoming club captain at the Camp Nou.

“I’m very calm here. Enjoying myself, focused on the tour, and focused on being ready to play.” he exclusively told La Vanguardia.

“I’m not paying attention to what people are saying elsewhere. I’m only thinking about preparing for the pre-season and enjoying my time with Barça.”

Asked specifically about the interest from PSG, Pedri revealed he is only focused on Barcelona.

“I don’t keep an eye on the offers that come my way. My representatives receive that. I tell them that if they want to listen, they should do it.

“And they will tell me but I’m focused on what is important to me, which is to train, play and enjoy. But a lot of things have to happen for me to leave this club. It would have to be very bad and very unpleasant. I see it as very unlikely, Barça is the club of my dreams and I want to stay for many more years.”

He continued by revealing that he voted for Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo to become the club’s captains for the season ahead, but also confirmed that he’d want to take up the role in future.

“Who doesn’t want to be captain of their dream team? I know someone voted for me but I think I’m still too young for that.”
