Despite being heavily linked with the forward throughout the transfer window, Inter have withdrawn their interest in Folarin Balogun due to Arsenal’s valuation being too high.

Folarin Balogun may be forced to stay at Arsenal beyond this summer and fight for his place in the first team, as heavily-linked Inter have now withdrawn their interest in the forward.

Arsenal are reportedly looking to earn upwards of £50million to part ways with their Hale End product, however his Serie A suitors see the valuation as ‘too expensive’.

Balogun has drawn interest from other Italian sides, as well as German, French and English sides, however it is Inter who have been most heavily linked.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Milan-based club will now put their entire focus on signing West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca, who struggled with injuries last term.

“Inter have currently stopped talks for Folarin Balogun deal as USMNT striker is considered too expensive” Romano tweeted.

“Focus on Gianluca Scamacca deal, first bid rejected by West Ham but Inter will send new one soon

“Talks never took place for Jonathan David; he’s also too expensive.”

Balogun is currently away with Arsenal on their pre-season tour of the United States.

The USMNT international featured against the MLS all-stars, and was named on the bench versus Manchester United, but has since been training on his own.

Many speculated that this was due to an impending transfer away from the club, however Mikel Arteta confirmed that it was due to a foot injury.

Regardless of his fitness situation, it is reported that Balogun is not part of Arteta’s plans, but with such a high valuation and just one excellent season at an elite level, the Gunners may struggle to find a buyer.
