Serie A giants Roma are reportedly plotting a shock move for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin to help Tammy Abraham ease back to full fitness following his knee injury.

Jose Mourinho and Roma are reportedly eyeing a move for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin to give Tammy Abraham time to ease back to full fitness after picking up a knee injury last season.

The Portuguese boss has already acquired a whole host of Premier League talent since returning to the Serie A, including the likes of; Rui Patricio, Chris Smalling, Nemanja Matic, Abraham, Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen.

And Calvert-Lewin may just be the next name on that list, as Corriere dello Sport report that Roma may present an official offer for the striker in the coming days, and that Everton are open to the player’s exit.

Their report claims that Mourinho’s side would only be interested in signing the frontman on a zero-fee loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Despite their serious interest in Calvert-Lewin though, it is believed that Roma are prioritising a move for West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, having also been linked with Leicester duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka earlier in the window.

Calvert-Lewin has endured two difficult campaigns in a row, picking up several injuries which saw him miss the majority of games in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.

The 26-year-old was one of the Toffees’ star players prior to the last two seasons, and was a top Premier League striker when fit and firing.

But now, with Everton hoping to turn a new chapter in their history by avoiding another relegation threatened season, Calvert-Lewin’s exit may suit all parties and could give him a much needed chance to revitalise his career.
