Chelsea are planning to submit a £70m bid in an attempt to secure long-term target Moises Caicedo, but the Brighton star has still travelled to America ahead of the Seagulls’ pre season tour.

Caicedo has already reportedly agreed personal terms with Chelsea ahead of a proposed move this summer, but a newly improved bid is yet to come from the Blues.

Chelsea previously saw a £60m bid rejected by Brighton and with the Seagulls eager to hold on to one of their star men, Mauricio Pochettino will need to improve his bid significantly to get his man.

Brighton are reportedly holding out for a fee of £100m for Caicedo, as they value their midfielder at a similar price to Declan Rice who just completed a move to Arsenal for £105m last week.

Brighton have already lost Alexis Mac Allister in this window, so they will be keen not to lose another midfielder who was so influential last year in securing European football.

Caicedo played 37/38 games for Brighton last season in the Premier League, as his side managed to secure Europa League qualification for the first time in their history.

The 21-year-old repeated his desire to move to London this summer when speaking to Ecuadorian TV last week:

“It’s a big team, that’s true. A very historic team which I can’t say no [to joining] because it’s a very big, historic, beautiful team. The city as well is beautiful. It’s got everything… beautiful.”

Chelsea are now planning to submit an improved bid of £70m to Brighton this summer in an attempt to finally get their man, but the Seagulls are still expected to turn away any offer under £100m.
