F1 British Grand Prix Preview
Formula One returns to the oldest and perhaps its most iconic track on Sunday, and all eyes will be on heavy favourite Max Verstappen.
The reigning two-time world champion has claimed the last five successive circuits to further bolster his lead in the drivers’ championship, and Red Bull are yet to lose a single race this year.
The Dutchman will be vying to lift his curse on British soil having never won an official Grand Prix at Silverstone, despite crossing the chequered line in first in the commemorative 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in August 2020, amid the disruption caused by the pandemic.

Last year’s race here was also one of just two out of the previous 22 that Verstappen has not finished on the podium, which may give a shred of confidence to the rest of the drivers, but his total dominance this term is reflected in his current outright price of 1/4.
Elsewhere, Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz looked dangerous in Austria last weekend, with the former snatching second place, while British favourites George Russell and record eight-time winner Lewis Hamilton will be hoping to build on steady improvements over the season by registering a solid race on home soil.
F1 Tips For British Grand Prix
Max Verstappen to Win the Race and Carlos Sainz to Finish on the Podium
Despite Max Verstappen never winning a British Grand Prix, he has won at Silverstone before and his recent form suggests there is little hope for his fellow rivals.
The practice results offered little in the way of confidence for any bidding to end his monopoly over the season so far. Any threat of typical British weather sweeping in to throw a spanner in the works should be a misnomer, given he navigated Canada’s deluge to great effect.
We are backing him to claim a sixth straight win here, but we have bolstered the selection by adding Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz to finish on the podium.
Despite enduring a race marred by problems and a post-race penalty in Austria, his performance here last year where he claimed his first Formula 1 victory is as clear indicator as any he has the tools to navigate this track.
A clean race absent of any penalties or car problems should see Ferrari pushing for a podium place, and Sainz can be the man to do it.
Hamilton, Norris and Russell Points Finish
Being back on British tarmac should enthuse the British favourites, and we are backing Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris all to race to a points finish.
Hamilton has a near-impeccable points finish record, only failing to register just once in 17 attempts, while George Russell has found some promising form by picking up points in his last 13 races.
Meanwhile, Mclaren’s Lando Norris cemented a P4 finish in Austria last week thanks to some superb car upgrades – expect him to be right up there in the leading pack on Sunday.
