PSG are reportedly close to activating the €6m buy-back clause for PSV star, Xavi Simons, meaning the Dutchman will have to decide on his future in the coming weeks.

After a lack of playing time in Ligue 1, Simons moved back to Holland on a free transfer and became a regular starter for PSV Eindhoven.

In his opening campaign, the Netherlands international scored 19 goals in the league and has caught the attention of his former side, PSG, as the Ligue 1 champions have the option of a ‘buy-back’ clause.

After Lionel Messi left the club this summer, the need for attacking reinforcements has increased and  for only €6m, there is still a chance of a return to Parc des Princes.

Simons is under contract until 2027 and according to reports, PSG are close to triggering the €6m buy-back option – giving Simons 25 days to decide his future.

PSG will be looking to strengthen this summer, as the 2022-23 campaign was an underwhelming period in the French capital.

Christophe Galtier, who has now been dismissed by the Parisian side, failed to meet the club’s main objective – to win the Champions League.

His side were decimated by Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr all failing to score, leaving the future of both Mbappe and Neymar remains doubtful.

The club’s problems grew as star player, Lionel Messi, was suspended for two weeks following an unauthorised absence from training and the Argentinian has been confirmed to join Inter Miami.

PSG have added Lucas Hernandez to their squad, as he signed from Bayern Munich for around £40m and will be a direct replacement for the departing Sergio Ramos.
