Jesse Lingard ‘Open’ To Saudi Arabian Move Following Nottingham Forest Departure

According to reports, former Nottingham Forest player, Jesse Lingard, is ‘open’ to moving to Saudi Arabia, following a disappointing campaign.

The former Manchester United player shocked everyone when he signed for Nottingham Forest, with many expecting Lingard to sign for West Ham.

However, in his 17 league appearances this season, the 30-year-old failed to register a goal contribution. He’s been influential off the field, but didn’t produce enough to justify the hefty wages.

Following this underwhelming spell, the Trees had no choice but to sell the England international and his release was confirmed only a few weeks ago.

A move to an alternative Premier League side looks unlikely, due to Lingard’s performance last season and high salary demands.

However, according to reports, the Premier League veteran is ‘open’ to moving to Saudi Arabia and follow the likes of, Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Neves – who have all moved to the ever-progressing league.

As Saudi Arabia prepare to bid for a future World Cup, the nation have welcomed an abundance of top talent in hopes of strengthening their chances.

A host of Europe’s best players have moved to Saudi Arabia this summer, after Cristiano Ronaldo paved the way in January as he signed for Al-Nassr from Manchester United.

Current Balon D’Or winner, Karim Benzema, ended his long spell at Real Madrid and joined Al-Ittihad – in a deal that is set to earn the Frenchman £100m a year.

However, the Frenchman had been offered a new deal at his previous club which cannot be said for Lingard, meaning he may sign on a free transfer.

The specific club is yet to be confirmed, as the likes of Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr and Al-Fateh all have the financial prowess to attract players.
