According to reports, Brighton and Hove Albion are serious contenders to sign Ajax superstar, Mohammed Kudus, despite Chelsea showing heavy interest.

After losing Graham Potter to Chelsea early on in the season, Brighton were expected to have a poor Premier League campaign.

However, Italian manager, Roberto De Zerbi, transitioned the squad superbly and the Seagulls are now regarded as one of the most enjoyable teams to watch.

The emergence of  Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Julio Enciso and Moises Caicedo inspired the Seagulls to a  sixth place finish, securing qualification for the Europa League.

Unfortunately for Brighton supporters, the club are set to lose Moises Caicedo, after Argentinian midfielder Alexis Mac Allister departed for Liverpool earlier this month.

With a host of star players set to leave the Amex, Brighton are on the hunt for summer additions and one player that could be on his way to the South Coast is Ajax midfielder, Mohammed Kudus.

After an impressive spell for FC Nordsjaelland, where Kudus scored 14 goals in 57 matches, the Ghanaian international earned a move to Dutch giants, Ajax.

During his time in the Netherlands, the 22-year-old has contributed to 33 goals in 84 appearances and is now one of the hottest prospects in Europe.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Brighton have shown ‘concrete’ interest in the young midfielder and could beat Chelsea in the race to land Kudus’ signature.

The Seagulls have been busy in the early stages of the summer window, signing James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud, in the opening weeks.
