Manchester United are reportedly preparing a move for Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer regardless of whether David De Gea remains at the club or not.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are ready to make a move for England number one Jordan Pickford this summer.

It is believed that Erik ten Hag is looking to sign another goalkeeper over the coming months, to either rival a starting spot with David De Gea, or to replace the Spaniard if he fails to agree to sign a new contract.

Pickford is said to be top of Ten Hag’s list of targets after the Red Devils dropped their interest in Leeds United goalkeeper Ilan Meslier.

Meslier was long tipped to be the heir to De Gea’s starting berth at Old Trafford, but after a huge dip in form towards the end of the campaign, United are said to have cooled their interest in the Frenchman.

Despite being a fan favourite and one of the Toffees’ best players, the Merseyside club may be forced to sell their stopper in order to raise funds after avoiding the drop once more.

The report from The Sun claims that Everton may well let Pickford leave if they receive an offer worth around £30million for his transfer.

United may well match Everton’s estimation for the 52-time England international, as De Gea is yet to sign new terms with the club despite making it clear that he is willing to remain a Red Devils player.

De Gea’s form dropped off massively towards the back end of the campaign, prompting fans to call for the club to sell the Spaniard.

Regardless, Ten Hag has made it clear that he would like De Gea to remain, but with interest from Saudi Arabia, the 32-year-old may be looking for a new challenge.
