Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of proven Premier League midfielder Jefferson Lerma on a free transfer from Bournemouth.

The Columbian midfielder will officially become a Crystal Palace player on July 1st, with the transfer  confirmed by both club and player on Thursday afternoon.

Palace chairman Steve Parish seemed excited to get his first signing across the line this summer, speaking highly of Lerma on the clubs website following the deal.

“Jefferson is a strong addition to our squad. He is a proven performer at Premier League level, and his combative and competitive nature will endear him to the Palace fans.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the club on 1st July in preparation for our eleventh consecutive season in the top-flight.”

Bournemouth survived a relegation scare with some ease in the end last season and Lerma was at the heart of the Cherries’ survival campaign, playing 37 of the 38 Premier League games in an impressive year.

However it was time for Lerma to move on from Bournemouth this year after four seasons at the club where he emerged as a fan favourite.

“I am very happy and excited by this new opportunity. Crystal Palace has good players and a good team, and I want to help with every objective the club has next season.”
