Speaking to the press ahead of West Ham’s Europa Conference League final clash against Fiorentina this evening, Harry Redknapp has claimed that the Hammers ‘should beat’ the Italian side.

Fiorentina finished eighth in the Serie A this term, leaving Redknapp describing the club as a ‘middle of the road Italian team’.

The Italians advanced to the final after coming from behind to beat Swiss side Basel in extra-time in the semi-final.

West Ham ended their Premier League campaign in 15th place, flirting with relegation for the majority of the season.

David Moyes’ side secured passage to the final two after defeating AZ Alkmaar 3-1 on aggregate in their two-legged semi-final tie.

“Listen, it’s a competition they’ve entered, they want to win it. Obviously, they’ve got Fiorentina now, but they should beat Fiorentina.” Redknapp said ahead of the clash.

“They’re a middle of the road Italian team, I think they’ve [West Ham] got a brilliant chance to go on and win it.

“Full credit to them this year, it’s great – the fans are loving it, and they’ve got great supporters so I’m pleased to see them get to a final and I’m sure they’ll win it.”
