Chelsea have set an asking price of £52 million for Kai Havertz this summer amid transfer interest from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid were confirmed to be interested in Kai Havertz this summer a couple of months ago and with Karim Benzema leaving this summer, a door could be opened for the German.

Benzema decided to make the surprising move to Saudi Arabia this summer after 14 years at Real Madrid, who are now in the market for a new forward.

After Chelsea struggled through one of their hardest seasons in recent years, Havertz is reportedly open to a move away from London this summer.

Havertz scored just nine goals for Chelsea in a season where the Blues struggled all over the pitch, but Madrid remain interested in the 23-year-old who has shone on the biggest stages over recent years.

Benzema and Havertz play a very similar role as a striker, with both playing the number nine role scoring less goals with more link up play alongside teammates.

Reports from Chelsea are that they would be willing to let their striker go for a reduced fee of £52m this summer, having paid £76m when signing the former Bayer Leverkusen star in 2020.

New Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino already has plenty of work to do in London and deciding his striker’s role at the club going forward will be one of the top priorities this month.

Having already scored the winner of a Champions League final at the age of 23, Havertz is exactly the kind of serial winner Madrid will be after as a Benzema replacement.
