A relentless schedule, made that little bit more taxing by an entire World Cup sandwiched mid-way through, has left everyone breathing a sigh of relief now the domestic season has come to an end. None more so than the players listed below, so join as we pose the question – who has played the most minutes in the Premier League this season?
- Excluding goalkeepers, this is an exhaustive guide to players who have clocked in with the most minutes this season.
- It is no surprise to see defenders dominate, with over half of the top 10 made up of ol’ reliable stalwarts at the back.
- Interestingly, Harry Kane is the only striker on the list.
All player minute totals are tallied by the Premier League and can be found on their website.
Who Has Played The Most Minutes in The Premier League?
10. Max Kilman (Wolves)
Having famously represented the England futsal side on 25 occasions, the ever-reliable Max Kilman has the ball-playing skillset that manager Julen Lopetegui desires.
Rather incredibly, the 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes in all but one of their fixtures – the draw against Everton in the penultimate round – which if he had played, would have ranked him among the likes of David De Gea and Aaron Ramsdale who have played every possible second.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,308
9. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)
Although he only ranks ninth on this list, Bruno Fernandes has played a staggering 5,075 minutes across the season, which translates to 80% or more of Manchester United’s fixtures in each competition.
If you were to include international minutes, he has accumulated by far and away the most minutes of any player in Europe this season (5,807), surpassing five goalkeepers.
Aside from a yellow card suspension in early November, the Portuguese maestro missed out on just 10 minutes in the Premier League this year.
Add to that 27 goals involvements in 58 games, you would be hard pushed to find a player more pivotal to a given set up.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,318
8. Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa)
At just 25, Ezri Konsa has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders and has been integral to Unai Emery’s astonishing mid-season revival.
With Aston Villa ranking third when isolating results post-World Cup, he has been a mainstay in the starting 11, starting 97% of Villa’s 38 games, and lending a helping hand in flipping their dire circumstances on its head – they rank in sixth for most clean sheets kept (12).
- Total Minutes Played – 3,323

7. Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)
Now a regular member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, Marc Guehi’s end-of-season performances have certainly caught the attention of a host of the Premier League’s elite.
Most notably Arsenal, who are said to hold concrete interest in the 22-year-old as they look to consolidate their new-found position as title challengers.
Aside from playing the full 90 minutes in all but one fixture this term, he registers an impressive 1.5 tackles and just over three clearances per game.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,329
6. Kieran Trippier (Newcastle)
There have been very few signings made in the summer that have gone onto have the impact Kieran Trippier has at Newcastle.
The 32-year-old has show little sign of slowing down as he takes on the mantle of captain, being one of the more senior members of Eddie Howe’s Champions League level squad.
LEADER. 👊
Kieran Trippier has been named Newcastle United’s Player of the Season for 2022/23!

He has proven to be an invaluable asset in both boxes while coaxing his teammates to raise their level. Not only has he started all 38 of Newcastle’s Premier League fixtures, but he hit double figures for assists while helping them to maintain the joint-best defence in the division.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,347
5. James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)
It would be a surprise to see James Ward-Prowse remain put at Southampton following their dismal 20th-placed finish, but his loyalty to the Saints is what makes him a remarkable player in this current climate.
Not even his nine goals and four assists could keep his side afloat, but his staggering ability to keep himself fit and healthy has become his most redeeming quality, besides his unmatched dead-ball skillset of course.
He became the first midfielder in the league’s history to play every single minute in consecutive seasons in 2021.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,372
4. Alex Iwobi (Everton)
It has taken until this season for Alex Iwobi to realise his full potential, and it took a drastic positional change to bring him to life.
Towards the end of last season, then-manager Frank Lampard began to utilise him in the middle of the park instead of out wide, which in turn saw new parts of his game begin to sprout.
With an average of two key passes per-90, he has since become un-droppable, chipping in with two goals and nine assists as well as featuring in all but 37 minutes of Everton’s campaign.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,381
3. Harry Kane (Tottenham)
Of course, becoming your club’s all-time record goalscorer is as clear an indicator as any as to how important Harry Kane is to Tottenham, but seeing him this high on this list is another alarming reminder of how his rumoured departure may affect them.
It is nigh-unfathomable that his 30 goals in another prolific season was not enough to claim the golden boot, but his xG-to-goals ratio actually ranks higher than eventual winner Erling Haaland.
Not only this, but the England captain missed just 12 minutes of Premier League football, coming all the way back in game week six against Fulham; he had inevitably already netted that day to secure the victory.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,406
2. Gabriel (Arsenal)
A shoe-in for many for the Premier League team of the season, no longer is Gabriel the gangly, uncoordinated newcomer that we saw two seasons ago. His blossoming partnership with William Saliba has helped Arsenal become genuine title contenders – so often had the Gunners excelled higher up the pitch, only to have their hard work undone by mistakes at the back.
He is still some way off the complete package, but the 25-year-old has quickly become a mainstay in Mikel Arteta’s side. This is evidenced by his mind-blowing consistency as a starting player.
The Brazilian started all of Arsenal’s fixtures this season, missing just nine minutes of normal time after being substituted on two occasions in their final run-in.
- Total Minutes Played – 3,411
1. James Tarkowski (Everton)
And so, we arrive at this season’s most utilised player.
James Tarkowski is the only outfield player to feature in every single possible minute this season. Despite a very narrow final-day escape, Everton’s defence actually ranks better than four different sides who finished above them in the table.

The former Burnley man will have been enthused by a mid-season reunion with former manager Sean Dyche, and upon his arrival, the 30-year-old was consistently ranking as the club’s most likely goal threat in terms of expected goals.
