‘Bobby dazzler’ poked home a late equaliser on his Anfield farewell last time out, in what may well turn out to be a vital goal in Liverpool’s pursuit of top four, albeit a very remote possibility.

The 31-year-old, who has spent the better part of a decade at Liverpool since making the switch from Hoffenheim in 2015, has positioned himself firmly amongst Anfield’s greats.

A Premier League title, three Champions League finals with one trophy to show for it, as well as several domestic cup triumphs have helped to cement his legacy during one of Liverpool’s most silverware-laden periods.

Anfield was adorned with banners and flags waxing lyrical of his impact on the club last weekend, for whom he has scored 110 goals and registered 79 assists.

And now, as he prepares to take the next step in his career, it remains unclear where that may be.

Despite being one of the more unique forwards in world football, with many attaching the label ‘nine and a half’ in relation to his duality as a goalscorer and creator, there is a surprising lack of activity from interested parties.

Barcelona have long been thought of as the natural option given their brand of football, and Firmino is reportedly keen on a move to Catalonia.

A free transfer would certainly be preferable for the Blaugrana given their precarious financial shortcomings, but according to Spanish news outlet SPORT, the newly crowned La Liga champions are intent on bringing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to the club.

The now-Chelsea forward remains a firm favourite amongst the hierarchy and the squad, and they even included him in their dressing room celebrations following their first league triumph in four years.

It appears a foregone conclusion that he will bring the curtain down on a fairly disastrous spell in west London, and given his relative success in his seven-month stint at Barca, it appears he is ahead of Firmino in their summer transfer shortlist.
