The Colonial National Invitation, known as the Charles Schwab Challenge since 2019, has been held in Fort Worth every year since 1946 and is one of five invitational tournaments on the PGA Tour.

Charles Schwab Challenge 2023 Preview
This year’s defending champion is world number 14 Sam Burns, who beat Scottie Scheffler in a playoff nearly two hours after finishing his final round. Scheffler enters the market as a short-priced favourite, available at 5/1 with golf betting sites.
The course hosted the 1941 US Open and demands a premium on accuracy, rather than pure length from the tee. Measuring more than 7,200 yards with tree-lined fairways and doglegs, Colonial is said to ‘get you in more trouble with a straight ball than any course’ according to Ben Hogan.
It is generally accepted as one of the toughest courses on the PGA Tour, and it will receive a $20m facelift after this year’s tournament.
It’s a homecoming for Jordan Spieth, who was forced to withdraw from the PGA Tour’s other stop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the AT&T Byron Nelson due to a wrist injury.
Strong finishers at the PGA Championship including Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Justin Rose and Cam Davis will each look to carry momentum into the 120-player field.

Charles Schwab Challenge Tip 1: Scottie Scheffler To Win @ 5/1 with BetUK
The weaker field here presents a golden opportunity for the 26-year-old to grab a third win of the season, following success at The Players’ and Phoenix Open earlier this year.
Considering his recent form, achieving at least a top-12 finish in the last 13 consecutive events, a win is surely just around the corner for Scheffler who was narrowly pipped to victory here last year.
A tournament in familiar scenery with the crowd behind him should provide additional comfort and confidence for the University of Texas graduate, who moved to Dallas at the age of six and still lives there.
He also returned to his position as world number one after his runner-up finish at Oak Hill in the PGA Championship.
A bumpy two-over final round prevented Scheffler from cruising to victory over Burns in 2022 – still ranking first and second in strokes gained from tee-to-green and off-the-tee for the event respectively.
Accuracy will be the key here – Scheffler ranks 1st this season in greens-in-regulation percentage and strokes gained from approach-to-green.
At such a short price you can’t blame anyone for passing it up, but the opportunity for Scheffler is golden.

Charles Schwab Challenge Tip 2: Justin Rose To Win And Each-Way @ 28/1 with BetUK
After 910 days, Justin Rose is back inside the world’s top 30 and declared his ambition to push into the top 20 on Twitter.
The Englishman has one win this season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and bounced back well from two consecutive missed cuts at the Genesis and Arnold Palmer Invitationals earlier this year.
A tied-sixth finish in The Players’ followed by tied-16th at Augusta National in The Masters last month and tied-ninth at the recent PGA Championship – Rose is enjoying an encouraging patch of form.
The 42-year-old shot rounds of 66-64-66-64 to finish three strokes clear of Brooks Koepka and win the Colonial in 2018 with his first visit in eight years.
During the tournament, Rose ranked first in greens in regulation, strokes gained/total, strokes gained/tee-to-green and strokes gained approach-the-green.
At 28/1, Justin Rose is our each-way pick at the Colonial this week.
Fun week @PGAChampionship gave it everything all week.. game is trending, just need to hit a few more fairways!! 🤣
Congratulations @BKoepka on winning your 3rd 🏆 👏🏼 and not forgetting the main man of the week Michael Block what a special week, it was great fun playing with you… pic.twitter.com/BQLw3UfPBz
