Rafael Leao who’s on many teams watchlist has admitted his admiration for the Premier League. What does this mean for Rafael Leao’s future?
Leao recently signed a new contract at the Serie A team. But this hasn’t stopped rumours about his future this summer continuing.
Chelsea are one team who have a real interest in the Portuguese striker. Along with Chelsea, a handful of Premier League teams are keen to make him their new signing.
Leao’s Future: New Contract But New Hope
His new contract will keep him at the club for another five years. Yet this doesn’t mean he is set to stay there.
A new contract acts as a way for a club to increase their asking price. The asking price is apparently set at least £100million. That price is unlikely to put off the mega rich Chelsea though.
Adding to the rumours, Leao recently sat down for an interview and was asked about his thoughts on the Premier League:
“Anyone would like to play in the Premier League because it’s a very competitive league.
“It has engaging football, great teams and a worldwide audience. Serie A is currently very well positioned in international football … The Premier League in the future.”
Leao began his career at Portuguese giants Sporting CP before spending the 2018-19 campaign at Lille. After one season he was snapped up by Milan. He has gone on to score 40 goals in 159 first-team appearances.
Leao was crucial in AC Milan’s Serie A title win last season.
This summer looks set to be an interesting one for Leao’s future.
