According to UK Betting Sites, Liverpool are surprise contenders in the race to sign Leicester City and England star, James Maddison.

The Foxes are in the most competitive relegation battle for years, as they sit 18th in the Premier League. Long-term manager, Brendan Rodgers, was sacked after a run of poor results and his replacement, Dean Smith, is yet to establish himself at the King Power.

Should the Midlands based side be relegated then one player who looks set to leave is England international, James Maddison.

The 26-year-old has scored 10 goals and contributed with nine assists in 27 league matches, a superb output for a relegation contender.

These performances have earned the midfielder a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad and attracted interest from Europe’s elite sides.

One club that are reportedly in contention is Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who are on the hunt for an array of midfield signings.

The Reds are fifth in the Premier League and a strong end to the season has seen them move within two points of a Champions League qualification spot.

However, with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago coming to the latter stage of their careers, the midfield is set for a huge overhaul in the summer.

Brighton duo, Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo have been linked with a move to Anfield, as long-time target, Jude Bellingham, looks to be joining Real Madrid at the end of the campaign.

Liverpool will face stiff competition for Maddison, as Newcastle have reportedly made contact with the Leicester midfielder. The Magpies are looking to bolster their squad for next season, as European football returns to St. James Park.
