Brighton have been on a top six charge lately, but they’ve been shocked by Everton. Here’s how that result has affected Brighton top six odds.

Abdoulaye Doucouré opened the scoring after just a minute for the visitors. The goal shocked the home fans who would have been expecting another dominate performance against relegation threatened Everton.

Doucouré scored the games second to add further shock to the home fans. The third goal came from Brighton ‘keeper Jason Steele who put the ball into his own net just after the half hour mark.

The second half stuttered by with the hosts trying to get back into the game by making four half-time changes. Unfortunately it didn’t have the desire affect as Everton’s Dwight McNeil grabbed the games fourth. McNeil scored the games final late into added time, this was after Alexis Mac Allister got a goal for Brighton.

If you were to look at the statistics from the game, you’d presume the result was the other way. Brighton dominated the game with 78% possession but couldn’t make good of all their time with the ball.

Brighton Top Six Odds: Will They Claim A Spot In Europe?

The result has knocked Brighton top six odds, but they’ve got games in hand to make sure they make the top six. Roberto De Zebri’s men have two Premier League games in hand over Liverpool and Tottenham, with them just two points off the latter.

Their games remaining are tough with them facing Arsenal, Man City and Newcastle United. They’ll need to be a lot better than they were against Everton if they want any chance of qualifying for the Europa League.

The bookies do have faith in Brighton to finish in the top six though. They’re priced at 2/9 to claim a top six spot at the end of the season.
