Fabrizio Romano is the bringer of positive Liverpool transfer news today, as he claims Liverpool’s negotiations with Brighton playmaker Alexis Mac Allister are progressing well ahead of the summer window.
Liverpool Transfer News – Mac Allister Deal Edges Closer
Liverpool have made no secret of their need for a midfield overhaul, and fringe players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are widely expected to exit the club before the start of next season.
Although the Reds publicly conceded defeat in their long-term pursuit of Jude Bellingham, who now appears to be on the verge of a move to Real Madrid in the headline transfer of the summer, the hierarchy remain keen on investing in fresh talent.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the club have stepped up their efforts to sign highly sought-after midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who has risen to prominence as one of Brighton’s key components in their bid for European football.
Just last month, the World Cup winner’s father confirmed that he expects his son to leave the south coast once the season has concluded, which has put a whole host of Premier League clubs on alert.
None more so than Liverpool, who are reportedly intent on signing more than one midfielder in the coming window, should the market opportunity present itself.

For now, Romano claims they are keen on securing a deal for Mac Allister early to avoid a bidding war with other potential suitors.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “Alexis Mac Allister is going to leave Brighton in the summer, 100%, this is not in doubt and this is something that will happen early in the summer.
“I can tell you that Liverpool feel they are making progress in the negotiation to sign Alexis Mac Allister.
“They presented their project the player’s side, and they are going to push on the player’s side, and then they feel they can close the deal with Brighton.”
Given his meteoric rise this season, both as a World Cup winner with Argentina and as Brighton’s joint-top scorer, his current employers will command a fee in excess of £70m.
A sizeable margin given they paid all of £7m for him, but as recent history has shown, the Seagulls are typically stubborn when it comes to transfer negotiations.
