Manchester City are reportedly exploring the possibility of adding to their left-back options, following Joao Cancelo’s unforeseen mid-season exit. The Premier League champions are among a host of potential suitors listed as favourites in the current Kieran Tierney next club odds market, and fresh reports suggest their interest could well be genuine.
After opting to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal last summer, Manchester City are now in the market for a left-back of their own.
Fresh reports indicate the champions could turn their attention towards the north Londoners once more after several positive transactions in recent seasons, and mutterings of Kieran Tierney’s availability are thought to have been discussed by the club’s hierarchy.
Tierney’s game time has suffered significantly since the arrival of Zinchenko, whose versatility as an inverted full-back lends itself to Mikel Arteta’s carefully orchestrated system.
Although Pep Guardiola has deployed a strikingly similar formation for much of the season, a shake-up to the defence has freed up positions out wide.
A larger emphasis on direct counter attacks may suit the Scotsman, whose preference is to stick to the touchline and utilise his pace to reach the byline.

Whether the 25-year-old will stay put in the capital and fight for his place remains to be seen, particularly with Zinchenko’s performances experiencing a notable dip in recent weeks.
According to Football Insider, any move would command a fee of around £30 million, with Newcastle also thought have inquired about his availability ahead of what could be an expensive summer for the soon-to-be Champions League competitors.
The Gunners themselves have been heavily linked with Spanish prospect Ivan Fresneda, who was on the brink of a January transfer only for the deal to collapse on deadline day.
However, the teenager made a promising admission to The Athletic, saying he has been casting a keen eye over Arsenal this season and is a ‘huge fan’ of Mikel Arteta.
