Following his goal against Chelsea in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over the English side, Karim Benzema has closed the gap on the Champions League leading scorer, Erling Haaland.
Real Madrid dispatched of Chelsea in emphatic fashion, winning 2-0 against 10-men following Ben Chilwell’s red card. Their French talisman was on the score sheet yet again and moved up to four goals in the Champions League this season.
His Los Blancos teammate, Vinicius Jr. remains two goals ahead with six goals and the duo will be looking to help one another win the Golden Boot.
Unfortunately for the pair, Manchester City’s goalscoring machine, Erling Haaland, leads the way with a whopping 11 goals. Scoring five goals against RB Leipzig in a historic European performance and added another against his former Bundesliga rivals, Bayern Munich.
Benzema sits fourth in the all-time goal scoring record, scoring his 90th goal in the Champions League with this deft finish against Chelsea.

Can The Real Madrid Duo Catch Haaland?
Manchester City’s Norwegian poacher has been on fire for the Citizens this season, scoring 46 goals in all competitions. He is on track to break all Premier League records and will be looking to conquer Europe on the way.
Benzema will need to score at least seven goals in the remaining Champions League fixture, which could include a battle against his younger counterpart. Pep Guardiola’s side look set to progress to the semi-final after their 3-0 thrashing of Bayern Munich.
Madrid’s silky winger, Vinicius Jr., is slightly closer to the Man City star and could potentially establish himself as one of Europe’s elite. The Brazilian is not on penalty duty, giving a slight advantage to his French teammate.
Both of the La Liga stars will have to do something special to overtake Europe’s deadliest player, but given City’s performances in the UCL over recent years, they may be in with a chance.
