Brighton are having an incredible season so far, sitting in sixth place in the Premier League and are in contention to finish in the top four places. One player that has been vital for the Seagulls’ performance this year is Ecuadorian international, Moises Caicedo.

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in Europe and has already made 41 appearances for the Seagulls since making his debut in April last year.

His future at Brighton has been surrounded by rumours since the January transfer window fiasco. Caicedo took to social media to express his desire to sign for Arsenal and even missed training to push for a move.

However, the clubs could not agree a deal with the Seagulls unwilling to budge on their ‘£70m’ fee and the whole move broke down. Since then, Chelsea have reportedly re-joined the race to sign the Ecuadorian after their January bid was also rejected.

The Gunners are eight games away from winning their first Premier League title in over two decades and Arteta has already set his sights on improving his squad for next season. With the Spaniard reportedly interested in Declan Rice and Caicedo.

Should they get their hands on either of the midfield options then it will cost over £70m, which may be unrealistic given the Gunners’ recent transfer spend.

However, for their London rivals Chelsea, spending that sort of money will not be new to them after spending over £500m across the last two windows. Meaning they can offer more in that department but they may miss out on Champions League qualification.
