Wondering what belts are on the line in the Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin fight this weekend in the heavyweight division? Read on to find out all you need to know about the fight and whether there are any belts on the line in the Joshua vs Franklin fight.
What Belts Are On The Line In Joshua vs Franklin Fight?
With Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin taking centre stage this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, boxing fans are excited to see the return of ‘AJ’.
In the main event fight, this is the first time Joshua hasn’t fought for a version of the world title since December 2015. In fact, this weekend there are no world title belts on the line in the Joshua vs Franklin fight.
That is because Joshua lost his world title belts against Oleksandr Usyk back in September 2021, before failing to win them back last August in their rematch in Saudi Arabia. This means that for the first time since May 2015 against Rafael Zumbano Love, there will be no belts on the line at all.
Since Joshua’s 13th fight onwards, the 33-year-old has always had a belt on the line for his contests. The WBC International Heavyweight Title was on the line against Kevin Johnson back in May 2015, with that belt along with the Commonwealth Title being on the line in Joshua’s next fight against Gary Cornish.

After the Cornish fight, Joshua fought Dillian Whyte for the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Titles in December 2015. Joshua’s first world title fight was in April 2016 when he beat Charles Martin within three rounds. Since then, Joshua has had at least one world title on the line in every single one of his fights.
From the fight after the Whyte triumph right up until his last fight in his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua has had 12 consecutive world title fights.
Now, on April 1st in just a few days time, Joshua will have a fight with no belts on the line at all. This could be a weight of Joshua’s shoulders. Knowing that there are no belts on the line could possibly relieve a bit of pressure from ‘AJ’.
It remains to be seen whether this will have any effect whatsoever on the outcome of the fight. However, it’s one less thing to worry about which means he an fully concentrate on the job in hand and on defeating Jermaine Franklin.
