Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, with the Blues pricing the German international at around £70m.

The current holders of the Champions League are having a strange season, as their league performances have not matched their quality in Europe. Los Blancos sit second in La Liga and are a whopping 12 points behind rivals Barcelona, who look set to win the title.

Yet, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been a completely different team in the Champions League, beating Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate in the round of 16. The Spanish giants are looking to make it 15 UCL titles and winning the competition may be the only way for their season to be deemed successful.

However, with their domestic display being below par, the La Liga champions are looking to strengthen for next season. One player that has been linked with a move is Chelsea’s Kai Havertz, who has shown his class for the Blues under Graham Potter.

The German has made 26 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring six and assisting one in a team that has under performed. Potter’s side have failed to meet expectations and find themselves in tenth place – 11 points off the ‘Top Four’ places.

Similarly to Madrid, the Blues have found more success in the Champions League this campaign and will even take on the Spanish side in the quarter finals of the competition. The two European powerhouses were drawn to battle one another last week, after Chelsea swept Borussia Dortmund aside in the round of 16.

Havertz will be looking to help his side progress as the Blues are huge underdogs going into the fixture, however it may be a chance to impress his possible suitors. Reports suggest that a move for the 23-year-old would cost around £70m, the same amount Chelsea signed him for in 2021.
