Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly interested in Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, with talks between the two parties over a summer transfer progressing.
The Spaniard has been at his boyhood club for over a decade and has made 266 appearances for Los Blancos, contributing to 84 goals. However he has been far less involved this season, only playing 660 minutes but still contributing to seven goals.
During his time in Madrid the winger has won three Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles, making him one of Europe’s most accomplished players. His lack of minutes this season has caused rumours to circulate and Arsenal are reportedly the most keen.

The Gunners recently signed Leandro Trossard who like Asensio plays most of his football on the wing, but Arteta still wants to strengthen in that area. With the side from north London looking likely to win the league, their ability to attract players will be boosted hugely.
Something that may be beneficial when trying to sign a player from the current Champions League winners. Carlo Ancelotti’s side sit second in La Liga currently, after Barcelona’s recent run of form. However, with Kylian Mbappe still linked to the club, their league form could improve, but it could be time for Asensio to look elsewhere.
Arsenal will face competition from their fierce rivals Spurs, as Antonio Conte’s side are also interested in the Real Madrid star. A move to either side could benefit the 27-year-old as he looks to cement himself in the Spanish national team.
