Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, as the midfielder continues to impress at Brighton.

Brighton have shocked the Premier League with their performances, especially since long-time manager Graham Potter left for Chelsea. Roberto De Zerbi has continued the free-flowing football and star performer Alexis Mac Allister has been a pivotal part of that.

The Argentine has played made 65 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 16 goals assisting seven from a midfield position. His performances earned him a spot in Argentina’s World Cup winning squad, with his assist proving crucial in the historic final against France.

His national side were not the only one’s to notice the 25-year-old’s recent form, with Pep Guardiola being a huge admirer of the player. His Manchester City side are currently in one of the hottest title races in recent years and winning another league title could tempt Mac Allister from Brighton.

City are five points behind fellow title chasers Arsenal, after the Gunners came from behind to beat Bournemouth and keep Guardiola’s side at bay. They are also competing on the European stage, as they prepare for their Champions League round of 16 second-leg against RB Leipzig.

Brighton are having similar success, in relation to money spent and expectations at the start of the season. De Zerbi’s men sit in eighth place, but winning their two games in hand would move them into the European places. Would Europa League football be enough to keep Mac Allister from leaving?
