Liverpool’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has reportedly increased as Jurgen Klopp plans for possible additions next season.

It’s been a difficult season for the red side of Merseyside, as they sit in sixth place and are six points of the Champions League places. Injuries have hampered their season with the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz missing the majority of the season so far.

Their Champions League form has been a similar story, finishing second in their group and being drawn against the current holders, Real Madrid. The first leg between the two has already took place and things didnt go to plan for the Reds as they were thrashed 5-2 after being 2-0 up.

This has led to fans speculating about Klopp’s future and how they are going to strengthen next season. One name that has been reported over the last few months is Mason Mount, who is having a similarly tricky time in London with his boyhood club, Chelsea.

Todd Boehly’s takeover from Roman Abrahmovic brought excitement back to Stamford Bridge, with a new manager and over half a billion spent on transfers. However, the Blues have struggled to live up to expectations, sitting tenth in the Premier League.

Mount has faced scrutiny this season due to some poor performances, he has played 32 games in all competitions, contributing to nine goals. However, only five have come in the league which has made a lot of fans question his place in the Chelsea side.

The 24-year-old has drawn the attention of Liverpool’s manager, with the German reportedly having admiration for Mount’s work-rate and understanding of the game. A move could be plausible as the player’s contract with the Blues ends in 2024 and talks over a new deal are rumoured to be stagnant.
