Chelsea are reportedly looking to increase their recent transfer spend with the club expected to make a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

Todd Boehly has made an instant impact since taking over from Roman Abrahmovic, spending over £5oom and finding a loophole in Financial Fair Play. Signing players on eight-year contracts, has shown how committed the American is to progressing the blues.

However the club’s performances on the pitch have not met expectations, as manager Graham Potter now faces a real possibility of being sacked. The 2021 Champions League winners sit 1oth in the table and have only scored six goals in 2023.

Speculation about more additions are inevitable given the amount Graham Potter’s side have spent and a possible addition could be Onana. The midfielder joined Everton at the start of this season, making 25 appearances so far in what has been a poor season for the Toffee’s.

Frank Lampard was sacked as his side found themselves in the relegation zone, with the final nail in the coffin coming in a 2-0 loss to West Ham in January. Sean Dyche was brought in to keep the blue side of Merseyside in the Premier League and has used Onana in every league fixture.

The Belgian has been one of few positives for Everton during the 22/23 campaign. His work rate and close control in midfield has been imperative for Sean Dyche’s side and if he were to leave it would be hard to replace him. The 21-year-old is believed by fans to be a superb choice for Chelsea.
