Sean Dyche is expected to deploy the highly disruptive midfield three that enjoyed so much success in the reverse of the fixture, and Gabby Agbonlahor’s Arsenal vs Everton prediction sees this trifecta in the middle as key to their chances this evening.

Everton claimed a memorable 1-0 victory over Arsenal to usher in Sean Dyche’s reign at Goodison Park, but it also set in motion a three-game winless run for the Gunners which left their title hopes hanging by a thread.

Despite this, favourable results elsewhere, notably Nottingham Forest holding Manchester City to a draw, has kept them afloat at the summit, and a victory this evening would restore a five point lead over the champions.

Manager Mikel Arteta and his side will be all too familiar with the danger Everton present however, even if they are wallowing in the relegation zone.

Sean Dyche has so far registered a mixed bag of results at the helm, claiming victory in two of his four games while losing the rest, but he will take comfort in the fact that his side managed to nullify Arsenal’s free-flowing attack better than most.

Ahead of this evening’s top versus bottom clash, TalkSport pundit Gabby Abonlahor has highlighted the importance of the midfield three, Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucouré, who proved to be effective against the Gunners last time out.

He said: “I’m thinking tonight, get your three in midfield – Onana, Doucoure, Gueye. Get them three in the middle, they like to get the ball, they can run with the ball on the counter-attack.

“Against Aston Villa, they did okay in the first half but Aston Villa won quite comfortably in the end. So Everton have got to wake up tonight and hopefully see if they can upset Arsenal and try and nick a draw.”

The former Premier League striker also went on to question why Demarai Grey, who remains Everton’s top scorer this season with five goals, has featured sporadically under Dyche so far.

“They have to use their players. The last few games, Demarai Gray hasn’t played, he hasn’t started,” he added.

“Get Demarai Gray as your No 9, your false nine, someone with speed and can run with the ball. And just park the bus against Arsenal, frustrate them.”

Arsenal are as short as 8/25 on BetUK to rectify last month’s surprise defeat, while an Everton double over the league leaders can be backed at 23/2.
