Why can’t West Ham’s Danny Ings play against Man Utd in the FA Cup this midweek? This is a question a lot of Hammers fans have been asking, so let’s explain why Ings won’t be heading to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Danny Ings Can’t Play for West Ham Against Man Utd In The FA Cup This Midweek

West Ham’s Danny Ings fired in two important goals for this new club in their 4-0 win over Forest on Saturday.

The win got West Ham up to 16th in the Premier League as they continue their quest to get out of the relegation dog fight.

But the frustration for Hammers fans is that Ings will have to sit out their key FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Manchester United on Wednesday.

So, Why Can’t Ings Face Man Utd on Wednesday?

The good news for West Ham supporters is that Danny Ings is NOT injured.

Yes, the 30 year-old was subbed in the 84th minute in their last game against Forest, but that wasn’t due to an injury.

The real reason Ings will have to sit out West Ham’s FA Cup fixture against Man Utd is that he’s CUP-TIED.

Unfortunately for the London side before they signed Ings in January he’d played for Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

Ings will probably want to forget it, but he was involved in Villa’s 2-1 defeat against League Two’s Stevenage.

This Third Round match on January 8th saw Danny Ings play 72 minutes of the game. But even a single second involvement would have prevented Ings from playing for another club in the competition.

With Ings sidelined, West Ham are likely to reach for Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio and to lead the attack against Man Utd.

Ings Will Be Fresh for Brighton At The Weekend

On a plus, West Ham will have a fresh Ings ready for their next two games. These are away to Brighton on Saturday and then it’s off the Cyprus to face AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League the following Thursday.

While after these two games, Ings will face his former club Aston Villa on Sunday 12th March – a game where he CAN play!
