Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has urged Manchester City to ‘change their tactics’ in preparation for Wednesday’s top-of-the-table clash against Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s side travel to the Emirates for tomorrow’s Premier League fixture, where the current Champions will hope to close the gap against table-toppers, Arsenal. Mikel Arteta currently has a six-point lead over his former boss and a win could put one hand on the trophy.
Recently Guardiola has tinkered with different players in unique formations, using his trademark inverted-full backs. However after a loss to Tottenham and Manchester United in the league, Gary Neville has suggested that not playing a traditional left-back could be costly for the blue-side of Manchester.
Neville said: “It’s almost as if Guardiola is making a point, that you haven’t signed me a left-back. Obviously Zinchenko was allowed to leave and he’s playing now without a left-back,”
“I can’t think he’s going to go to Arsenal on Wednesday, with Saka playing on that right wing, and not play someone there. He’s going to have to deal with it at some point during the season, but he’s certainly not comfortable at this moment in time”
Neville:
"Do you honestly believe a season is going to be a bed of roses and you’re going to walk all the way through it? It’s not going to happen.
"This wobble is always going to happen to every club, every season where they win a league. It’s natural." https://t.co/S56B9TdCXa

The two sides are yet to meet in the league this season, with their only encounter coming in the FA Cup which Manchester won thanks to a Nathan Ake goal. Neville has reiterated the magnitude of this match, claiming that City will be relishing the chance to catch the Gunners.
Neville said: “I’m looking at Pep ahead of Wednesday and he’ll really fancy this. It’s one of his protegees in Mikel Arteta, who’s done a wonderful job at Arsenal. They’ve been the best team in the league so far, but they can be damaged on Wednesday.”
