Ian Wright believes former Blackburn Rovers striker, Benni McCarthy, has played a vital role in Rashford’s transformation.
Rashford was some way off his best before Erik ten Hag came to Old Trafford. However this season, he’s been in fantastic form for club and country.
His header against Leeds United was his 21st in all competitions this season. That tally doesn’t include the three he scored for England during the Qatar World Cup.

The goal helped his side into the lead late on against Leeds United. They went on to win that game 2-0, a win that continues there slim hopes of winning the league.
What’s Changed Rashford?
Rashford this season has been a different animal. He’s scoring goals for fun. Beating players for fun. And more importantly, playing with a smile on his face.
There could be many reasons why it’s clicked this season for Rashford, but Arsenal legend Ian Wright says it’s down to one man.
Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Wright said:
“I think the acquisition of Benni McCarthy, a striker coach, has helped him (Rashford).
“When you look at the movement for that goal, Harry Maguire was talking about [in his post-match interview] how his heading has improved. It was brilliant.
“It says to me that someone like Benni McCarthy’s working very closely with him. He’s improved no end.”
McCarthy enjoyed a good career playing at the top level. After starting in South Africa with Seven Stars, he went on to play in Europe. During his career he represented Ajax, Celta Vigo, Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United.
Whatever McCarthy has done with Rashford this season, Man United and England fans are grateful.
