Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to have a scan after he picked up a hamstring injury in the Toffee’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday.

New Everton manager Sean Dyche got off to the perfect start as he managed his side to a 1-o victory of table toppers Arsenal. James Tarkowski’s header was enough to secure all three points and inflict Arsenal’s first defeat in the Premier League since September.

The victory was tainted as Calvert-Lewin picked up a hamstring injury which has been a repeated issue for the forward this season. The 25-year-old has only appeared 11 times in the league, with injuries stopping him from finding form with a run of games in the squad.

The England international was substituted mid-way through the second-half and manager Sean Dyche has confirmed it was due to a knock suffered on the hamstring that has caused issues previously.

Dyche was questioned about the forward’s fitness and gave an update on his condition.

Dyche said: “We will have to wait and see. I don’t think it’s a drastic one but he needs to settle it down so we will probably give it two days before we scan it just as a precaution at this stage. We just had a chat with him to see where he is at, how he is feeling about things.”

The new manager is confident Calvert-Lewin can find his feet after showing strong signs in training.

Dyche added: “His body is getting stronger. He’s niggled his hamstring which was a risk and reward situation, because he’s been a bit up and down with that. We said just give us a chance to work with you and you will get stronger.”
