After being left out of Saturday’s squad to face Crystal Palace with injury, Anthony Martial has now missed his 20th game of the season for Manchester United.

Martial has missed 92 days of action with a range of different injuries this season, including hamstring, achilles and back.

The 27-year-old has played more than 30 games in a Premier League season just three times since joining from Monaco in 2015, unable to show his true potential.

According to manager Erik ten Hag, Martial suffered a ‘setback’ in the second leg win of Manchester United’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday where he came on and scored.

“He had a setback from the game when he returned, He dropped a little bit back. We have to wait, we have to be patient.”

Unfortunately for the Frenchman, a player’s best ability is availability and Manchester United haven’t gotten nearly enough of it from Martial across his Old Trafford career – through no fault of his own.

Having missed 20 of the Red Devils’ 35 games this season, Martial has been unavailable over 57% of the time, playing in just 718 out of 2790 possible minutes (25.7%).

Compare that to Bruno Fernandes (96.5%), Marcus Rashford (81.2%) and Christian Eriksen (81.1%) – United need more from a key component to their attack.

According to Premier League betting sites, Manchester United are 33/1 to win the title this season, behind only Arsenal and Manchester City who appear to be leading a two-horse race.

Despite his limited minutes so far this campaign, Martial has been very productive with his time on the pitch so far and could definitely improve United with a consistent spell in the lineup.
