Horse racing fans will be getting excited for the two-day Dublin Racing Festival this weekend with an array of big names heading to the Leopardstown track – one of which is A Wave Of The Sea, who has won at the DFR for the last three years – can he make if four?

Dublin Racing Festival 2023 Will Grab The Headlines This Weekend
This weekend will see two days of some of the best National Hunt horse racing of the season as the increasingly popular Dublin Racing Festival will be taking centre stage.
There are 15 races across Saturday and Sunday to look out for with four Grade One contests on each day.
The racing will also provide us with plenty of Cheltenham Festival clues with the current Gold Cup favourite Galopin Des Champs having his final prep race before heading to Prestbury Park nex month, plus we’ll see several returning champions back in action – including the three-time DRF winner A Wave Of The Sea.

A Wave Of The Sea Has Won At The Dublin Racing Festival For The Last Three Years
It’s hard to think that the Joseph O’Brien-trained A WAVE OF THE SEA is still only a 7 year-old.
This is because Dublin Racing Festival fans would have seen this horse carry the famous JP McManus colours to success an incredible three times at the Leopardstown meeting since 2020 and he’s likely to be back for more this weekend.
Therefore, the term ‘horses for course’ or even ‘horses for meetings’ is very much in-play when it comes to A Wave Of The Sea and with two entries for connections to pick from in 2023, we are sure to see him try and win a race at the DRF for a fourth year in-a-row.
A Wave Of The Sea Will Try And Win Saturday’s 4:10pm For A Third Time
A Wave Of The Sea is now entered in Saturday’s Sandyford Handicap Chase 2m 1f (4:10) , a race he’s won for the last two years
Having also won the Spring Juvenile Hurdle back in 2020, that makes up the trio of Dublin Racing Festival wins for this course lover.
With A Wave Of The Sea winning the Sandyford Handicap Chase for the last two years, then you feel he’s been laid out for the race again and though this 7 year-old hasn’t won a race since taking this prize 12 months ago (had 7 races), this means he’s slipped back down the handicap and will get into the contest on just a 2lbs higher rating than 2022.
You can back A Wave Of The Sea @ 6/1 with BetUK (correct, Fri 3rd Feb but odds are subject to change)
A Wave Of The Sea Has Taken The Same Route As Last Season
The other plus for A Wave Of The Sea backers is that he’s also taking the same route as he did last season. 12 months ago he fell in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas before bouncing back to win the Sandyford Handicap Chase around 5 weeks later.
This term he also ran in that same Leopardstown contest – when 14th (of 28) back on December 27th – so can lightning strike for a third year in this same race?
