Brighton managed to pull off a cupset this weekend, as a 92nd minute winner from Kaoru Mitoma sent the Seagulls flying through to the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of current holders Liverpool.

  • Liverpool took the lead after half an hour courtesy of a Harvey Elliott finish
  • Brighton equalised just before half time thanks to a shot deflected off Lewis Dunk
  • Mitoma won the game with a beautiful goal in the 92nd minute
  • Brighton move to 8/1 to win the FA Cup

It was Liverpool who took the lead at the Amex in Sunday afternoon, as Harvey Elliott was on the score sheet yet again after half an hour with a sharp finish past Jason Steele in net.

It didn’t take long for Brighton to find an equaliser however, with a Tariq Lamptey shot from outside the area taking a deflection off Lewis Dunk to level the scoring just before the break.

Dunk spoke to the media after the game saying that it was nice to get the goal after a long drought however the captain assured everyone that he didn’t mean the flick to equalise the game.

Brighton left it til late on to qualify for the fifth round of the FA Cup but it was certainly worth the wait when they did eventually find the back of the net in the 92nd minute.

Kaoru Mitoma was the calmest man in the stadium when the ball fell to him at the back post, as the Japanese international flicked the ball up and volleyed past Alisson from close range to knock out cup holders Liverpool and send Brighton through to the fifth round.
