The Portuguese forward, who joined the Old Lady back in 2018, was involved in the scandal after documents revealed he was owed £17.2m in salary after agreeing to a four-month deferral during the 2019/20 season. The five-time Balon D’or winner has faced a fair few problems this season, leaving him 200/1 to add a sixth Balon D’or to his name, according to UK betting sites.
Other star players that are involved in this controversy include, Miralem Pjanic, who was owed £5.1m, Aaron Ramsey was owed £4.2m and French international Adrien Rabiot deferred £5m in wages. With former head coach Maurizio Sarri, and recently departed Giorgio Chiellini and Paulo Dybala, also facing a ban.
The club will have to wait till March for their fate, with the players guilty facing a 30-day ban, which is only applicable while playing in Italy. Meaning the ban won’t impact Ronaldo’s latest move to Saudi Arabia, one that made him the highest paid player in the world,
