Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Smith faced off once again this afternoon at today’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s pay-per-view boxing showdown. Tempers flared and person insults were exchanged as the pair of boxers exchanged verbal blows ahead of getting into the ring this weekend.
Eubank Jr and Smith Trade Verbal Blows At Press Conference
Ahead of their highly anticipated pay-per-view fight this Saturday night, Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Smith took part in a press conference today for the media to hype the fight. Eubank Jr is the heavy favourite with the best boxing betting sites for this bout on Saturday with his scouse counterpart.
There has been a slight bit of animosity between the pair in the build up to this fight. It comes as absolutely no surprise whatsoever that the pair clashed today at the presser. Both Eubank Jr and Smith traded various verbal blows and personal insults as fight night draws closer and closer.
What started as a joke quickly escalated into personal blows. Smith kicked things off with hinting that Chris Eubank Jr may be gay, with Eubank Jr denying the accusations but responding by saying “I’d rather be gay than a cheat.”

Eubank Jr initially joked about his opponent messaging him on Instagram earlier this week: “You slid into my DMs. I’m used to seeing girls in my DMs, I’m not used to seeing guys.”
Smith then asked: “You go on about girls mate, has anybody in this room ever seen you with a girl?
“Have you got something to tell us, really? Because you’re 33. For no laughs or nothing…do you want to tell us something?
“Because nobody in this room has ever seen you with a woman.”
Eubank Jr wasn’t rattled by Smith’s comments and continued to keep a calm head: “Listen, my private life is my private life. That’s irrelevant to the boxing. I’m happy, I’m comfortable.”

The personal insults and comments didn’t stop there, as Liverpool’s Smith pressed further with Eubank Jr adding, “It’s a very personal question to ask me directly. You can slide in my DMs or you can do it right now”. Smith then said: “I’m not that type of way mate, I like women.”
As the tension continued to rise, Eubank Jr said: “It’s a bit fruity isn’t it? Talking about another man’s beard and hair.
“You’re asking me if I’m gay. You’re asking me about my beard and my hair….”
Smith cut in to say: “Because I’m sitting here talking to you in a press conference.”
Minutes later as the press conference was drawing to a close, Eubank then accused Liam Smith of being a cheat:
“If you want to get dark and personal with it – talking about being gay, and do I like girls – I’ve been told by multiple sources that you cheat on your wife on occasion. Glass houses mate. Let’s just relax. I’d rather be gay than a cheat, how about that?”
Smith responded immediately by saying: “You haven’t got a missus to cheat on.”

Things clearly got out of hand very quickly, with Sky Sports presenter Anna Woolhouse adding:
“We did have an inkling that would get spicy but before we get stuck into it. We do want to apologise for any of the language that may have been used and offended you and any of the homophobic comments.”
It is likely that things get a little spicey again tomorrow at the weigh-ins, with Eubank Jr and Smith clearly growing a slight hatred towards each other. The fight is brewing into a barnstormer so lets hope the actual boxing action lives up to all of the hype!
