Chelsea have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Portuguese forward Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid, amid links with Manchester United

The Blues look set to beat United and Arsenal to the signature of the 23-year-0ld with neither side prepared to pay the loan fee that Atletico want.

Felix would provide Chelsea with exactly what they need, after struggling in front of goal this season, with Graham Potter’s side only finding the back of the net 20 times in 17 Premier League games this season, whilst sitting in 10th with only one win in their last five games in the league.

Potter’s men have already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup as well as being 10 points off of the top four.

The west London club have already been active in this January window, despite it only being open for just over a week. They’ve already signed Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, and Andrey Santos.

Over time, Felix’s relationship with Diego Simeone has become difficult, and the Spanish giants are prepared to let him leave on loan this January.

When he signed for the club back in 2019, he was arguable the hottest young talent in world football, signing for Atletico for £113m from Benfica.

He won the clubs Player of the Season last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists, however since then, his time in the Spanish capital has gone down hill.

However, he looks to be making his way to the English capital now, and we could see the deal get over the line by the weekend.  Chelsea will return to Premier League action against Fulham in a local derby this Thursday night.
