SPORTSLENS BEST BET: THUNDER ROCK @ 2/1 with BetUK looks the better value over the Nicholls-trained Monmiral here in what looks a decent little Novices’ Chase. Monmiral was only 7 lengths off the classy Jonbon, who is one of the fancies for the Arkle Chase at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, last time out at Warwick, but that was over 2m and is up to 2m4f this time. Yes, he’s a decent hurdler that’s won 5 of his 8 starts, but is now actually on a run of four races without a success with his last win coming in April 2021. In contrast, the Olly Murphy runner Thunder Rock has been impressive in winning his last three (2-from-2 fences) and is proven over this longer trip having won last time over 2m3f. He’s the top-rated in the field too (150) and won’t have any ground issues. Beauport and The Real Whacker can do best of the rest.

SPORTSLENS BEST BET: BRAVE SEASCA (e/w) @ 17/2 with BetUK and STOLEN SILVER (e/w) @ 7/1 with BetUK get the nod here in a race that the Venetia Williams and Nigel Twiston-Davies yards love to target. The former was a tidy winner at Aintree last time out and is only up 4lbs for that here. Yes, this looks tougher, but this progressive 7 year-old is now 4-from-7 over fences and looks the sort to have more to offer now upped in trip. Stolen Silver fell three out in the Paddy Power Gold Cup here last time out and was found to be lame after the race. Before that was a nice winner over this course and distance when taking a useful Grade 2 contest and despite being 7lbs higher this time has had 50 days to get over that last run and looks another solid player. El Ridoto, Midnight River and Happygolucky are others with decent claims.

SPORTSLENS BEST BET: MARIE’S ROCK @ 11/4 with BetUK continues to improve and this Nicky Henderson mare looks worth sticking with. She’s won her last three now and despite her last run coming back in April is a horse that’s gone well fresh in the past. She also gets a handy allowance of the others and receives weight all-round. Add in that she’s a course winner here at Prestbury Park and is still only 8, then should still have more in the locker too. Of the rest, Henderson also has First Street, who has a big chance, while course winner I Like To Move It and the Nicholls-trained Knappers Hill are players too.

Regular rider David Maxwell, who also owns the horse, rides and can claim a handy 3lbs again. In a super-competitive race, Jet Of Magic is also respected, as is Abuffalosoldier and Thomas Darby. But the other worth having a saver on is the Dan Skelton-trained WILDE ABOUT OSCAR (e/w) @ 7/1 with BetUK. This 7 year-old was a close third to Dolphin Square last time at Sandown (running on well) and a repeat of that effort, with Call Me Lord and Dolphin Square just in front of him, would see him bang there again.
