Khamzat Chimaev has shared his frustration at his fellow UFC fighters after numerous contract negotiations and potential fights have fallen though. The Swedish MMA star believes everyone is running scared of him and that nobody wants to fight him.
Khamzat Chimaev Frustrated At Lack Of Big Fights
With the New Year approaching and big UFC cards beginning to get going again in January, some of the biggest names on the UFC roster are beginning to get back into training camp for a fight in the next few months. One of those men is Khamzat Chimaev. The Swedish MMA star has began training for a fight, but as of yet has no opponent booked.
The 28-year-old wrecking machine has taken to social media to share his frustration at the fact that his fellow UFC fighters are pulling out of fights with him and are ‘running away’ from him. Chimaev recently took to social media posting a video blog in which he stated that he is tired and angry at numerous fighters not signing to fight him.
Chimaev is one of the most talked about and high profile fighters in the entire UFC, and has turned into a PPV star in such a short period of time. The undefeated Chechen is now 12-0 and has won six straight fights since signing for the UFC after his move from Brave.
Chimaev is desperate to get back in the octagon in the New Year, after winning his last fight at UFC 279 in the first round. The Swedish MMA star believes that a lot of his potential opponents are running scared of him and they are not willing to fight him. This has led to Chimaev venting his frustration in a video, where he made it clear that he wants a huge fight or a title shot next at either welterweight or middleweight.
UFC President Dana White is hopeful that Chimaev is back in action headlining a big card in March, but did admit he is struggling to find him an opponent as of yet.
‘They Want To Run Away’ – Chimaev
With numerous fighters supposedly declining a fight with Chimaev, the 28-year-old decided to take to social media to vent his frustration:
“Nobody wants to fight. F*** these boys. They gave me four different countries, four different opponents. Nobody wants to fight,” said Chimaev in his ranting video blog.
“I’m going to fight somebody, I don’t know who. They change opponents all the time. Every week I have a new opponent, but nobody wants to fight.
“The guys trash talk loud about me and ‘I want to fight you, I want to fight you!’ When it comes to the fight and signing the contract, they want to run away.”
It remains to be seen whether Chimaev does fight at the beginning of 2023, and if so, who against and at what weight. It is unlikely he gets a title shot at either Leon Edwards or Alex Pereira at welterweight and middleweight respectively, but there are certainly some huge fights out there for him. A fight with someone like Colby Covington or Jorge Masvidal could be a huge bout at 170-pounds in 2023.
Fingers crossed the UFC can find Chimaev an opponent as soon as possible and we see him back in action in the first quarter of the New Year.
