World Cup Yellow Card Tip 1: Qatar vs Senegal: Over 49.5 Booking Points @ 13/10 with 888Sport
Our first tip of the day predicts a booking-fuelled match-up between hosts Qatar and Senegal.
The former were totally outclassed in their opening fixture with Ecuador, and will be hoping to register a more convincing performance here the second time around. However, African champions Senegal present a much tougher test than their opening day opponents, and their physicality and tournament-know-how will likely translate into a flurry of cards for Qatar.
They picked up four bookings in their first game last week, while Senegal picked up just the one, but we think this fixture could easily hit the over 49.5 points mark given the appointed referee’s record – see below for a full rundown.
Referee Stats – Antonio Lahoz
- La Liga: 7 matches – 4.42 cards per game
- Champions League: 3 matches – 4 cards per game
- UEFA Champions League: 1 match – 2 cards per game
World Cup Yellow Card Tip 2: Netherlands vs Ecuador: Moises Caicedo to be Carded @ 31/10 with 888Sport
Next, we head over to the other game in Group A as Netherlands and Ecuador, who both claimed victory in their opening fixtures, go head-to-head in an attempt to move clear at the summit.
Although Netherlands were far from convincing in their late win over Senegal, they showed they are capable of moving through the gears when in transition, with the likes of Frankie De Jong and Davy Klassen surging through the midfield on several occasions.
Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is a jack-of-all-trades kind of midfielder, who is aggressive and technically astute in equal measure. He enjoys being the enforcer, winning the ball back by any means necessary – this often sees him carded and the 21-year-old picked up a caution in the first match of the tournament.
He also has five for the Seagulls in 15 appearances this season.
Referee Stats – Mustapha Ghorbal
- CAF Confederation: 1 match – 3 cards
- Ligue Professionnelle: 2 matches – 0 cards
World Cup Yellow Card Tip 3: England vs USA: Antonee Robinson to be Carded @ 4/1 with 888Sport
For our third and final pick, we jump over to Group B as England the USA face-off in the final game of the day.
England can make it two wins from two having inflicted a heavy defeat on Iran in their opener, but this should be a closer affair with the USA showing their resolve to pick up a hard-fought draw against Wales.
England’s wide players were particularly effective in their first fixture, with Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling causing all sorts of problems while Luke Shaw and Kieran Tripper bombed forward frequently.
Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson was a crucial part of the Americans’ attacking surges against Wales, but often left gaping holes as he ventured forward. Saka and Sterling will look to exploit these at every opportunity and we can see Robinson having to take a hit to stop the Arsenal starlet.
Referee Stats – Jesus Valenzuela
- Copa Libertadores: 8 matches – 5.62 cards per game
- Liga Venezolano: 19 matches – 6.36 cards per game
- Liga Futve: 5 matches – 5.8 cards per game
