Wolves Vs Everton Report: Matheus Cunha Shines At Molineux
Wolves entered the game in search of their third successive win for the first time under Gary O’Neil. Everton, on the other hand, were aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Manchester City.
The hosts started brightly and took the lead after 25 minutes when Max Kilman prodded home following a scramble inside Everton’s six-yard box.
Matheus Cunha made it 2-0 eight minutes into the second half, slamming Hee-Chan Hwang’s cutback into the roof of the net. This marks Cunha’s sixth Premier League goal of the season.
The Brazilian then turned provider for the third, with Craig Dawson being the unlikely goalscorer, turning Cunha’s cross from the left wing home.
Pedro Neto came on as a substitute for the final 10 minutes, making his return from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since October.
It could’ve been even worse for Everton, as Hwang and Neto both had goals disallowed for offside in the closing stages, but O’Neil will be delighted to see his side gain all three points and a clean sheet.
Wolves are now unbeaten in eight at home and remain 11th in the table, level on points with Chelsea in 10th.
Everton, on the other hand, never really looked likely to mount a comeback, failing to record a single shot on target. They remain just one point above the relegation zone and will be relieved that Luton couldn’t quite complete their comeback against Chelsea.
